Computational aeroacoustics: noise generation and propagation from flow simulations.
CAA++ is Metacomp's computational aeroacoustics toolset, built on CFD++. It combines high-fidelity solvers for noise sources, such as hybrid RANS/LES and NLAS (Non-Linear Acoustics Solver), with far-field propagation tools.
Hybrid models with automatic eddy seeding and sub-grid-scale models that keep RANS behavior near walls.
The Non-Linear Acoustics Solver resolves acoustic fluctuations on meshes coarser than LES requires and captures weak-shear instabilities.
Focuses the unsteady computation on the region of interest, with self-tuning absorbing layers, reducing memory and CPU time.
Automatic choice between implicit and explicit time integration depending on the mesh region.
Far-field and Waveprop tools for fast analytic propagation in the time and frequency domains, with directivity calculation.
Acoustic surface creation and reinterpolation, volume and surface source integration, wavepath integration and surface data maps.
