Project results

  • 2026 Aço Verde do Brasil award. Low NOx burner designed with CFD and chemical kinetics and tested in a Samarco pelletizing furnace. See the case
  • Approved by the fire department. Smoke control for an exhibition hall in São Paulo, where construction was halted until approval. See the case
  • Up to 1.53% less diesel. Aerodynamic fairing for an iron ore train: potential fuel savings of 0.77% to 1.53%.
  • Helicopter landing on ships. Wind study over the flight deck for the Brazilian Navy. The Navy uses the CFD++ RANS calculations made by ATS, instead of wind tunnel tests at NLR (the Netherlands), to define the landing envelope. The procedure was validated (ICAS 2018) and is now applied to the new Tamandaré class frigate (Brazilian Navy Directorate of Naval Aeronautics contract, 2026). See the case
